    CASA of Caroline trains and supports community volunteers who advocate for children in foster care in Caroline County, helping ensure their best interests are heard and considered throughout the court process.

    What Is CASA?

    CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocate. CASA volunteers have a distinct role in helping make sure a child's best interests are represented throughout the court process.

    At the heart of the role is getting to know the child — their circumstances, their experiences, and what matters in their life.

    As a child's advocate, you will:

    • Gather informationLearn from the people involved in their life and case, including professionals and service providers.
    • Advocate for their best interestsBring information and recommendations to the court to support informed decisions.

    CASA volunteers come from many walks of life, but they share a commitment to showing up for children who need an advocate.

    CASA of Caroline provides training and support to help volunteers prepare for this important role.

    To become a volunteer, you will:

    1. Submit an application and references.
    2. Complete a screening interview, background check, and 30-hour training.
    3. Commit to serving for at least one year or until your assigned case closes.
