What Is CASA?
CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocate. CASA volunteers are trained community members who advocate for children involved in the court and foster care systems.

What does a CASA volunteer do?
CASA volunteers get to know the child and gather information from the people involved in the child’s life and case. They work alongside attorneys, child welfare professionals, educators, service providers, and others so the court has information to consider when making decisions.
A distinct role
A CASA volunteer does not decide the outcome of a case and does not provide legal representation. CASA volunteers have a distinct advocacy role and do not replace the court, attorneys, child welfare professionals, therapists, foster parents, or others responsible for a child’s care or case.
