Kristin Dietz joined the Caroline County Health Department (CCHD) as the Deputy Health Officer in October of 2021. She began her work in public health with the Maryland Department of Health (MDH) Office of Preparedness and Response (OP&R) in 2015 as the Regional Coordinator for Region IV Delmarva Regional Healthcare Mutual Aid Group (DRHMAG) healthcare coalition, which covers the nine counties on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. Kristin became the Co-Chair of the coalition in April of 2023. She became the Special Projects Coordinator, for OP&R, in 2017 where she managed the MDH Extreme Heat and Extreme Cold Plans, the Department’s grant with Maryland 2-1-1 and was the project lead for assisting each MDH Administration with creating Continuity of Operations Plans through MDH’s Quality Improvement Council. In 2019 she served as the Chief, Local Health and Health Planning where she facilitated the Public Health Emergency Preparedness Program (PHEP) and managed the Public Health & Medical Plans for OP&R and partnering administrations within MDH and served as a departmental legislative liaison and MDH representative on the Governor’s Active Assailant Interdisciplinary Workgroup (AAIWG).

Kristin has twenty years of experience in Emergency Management, beginning on the County Government level in 2006, as an Emergency Preparedness Planner for Kent County, Maryland and with MDH’s Emergency Management Team from 2015 to 2021. She served as the Chair of the Maryland Emergency Management Association Annual Symposium, which brings all state coordinating functions throughout the state and the neighboring DelMarVa Peninsula, together for training and networking, from 2008 until 2015. Kristin did continue as this committee’s facility chair, after going to public health and again took the reins of the committee in 2022. She has over thirty-five years of experience as a volunteer Firefighter and EMT-B operating in the State of Maryland, of which thirty have been spent as an Emergency Services Instructor with the University of Maryland’s, Maryland Fire & Rescue Institute. Kristin received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Washington College and a master’s degree in management from the Johns Hopkins University School of Education Police Executive Leadership Program (PELP).
